Welcome my friends! Today, I'm making one of the most beloved breads from the Balkans – Lepinja! This flatbread is the ultimate comfort food, perfect for sandwiches, kebabs, or just on its own with some butter and cheese. Follow along as I show you step-by-step how to make this delicious homemade Lepinja with simple ingredients you probably already have in your pantry. 🍞 Ingredients: ✓ 8 cups flour ✓ 1 ¼ cups warm milk ✓ 1 cup warm water ✓ 1 cup yogurt or buttermilk ✓ 1 tablespoon dry yeast ✓ 1 tablespoon sugar ✓ 1 teaspoon salt 1. Prepare the Dough: - In a large mixing bowl, add the flour and create a well in the center. - Pour in the yeast and sugar, followed by the warm milk. Stir gently in the center to combine and let it sit for about 5 minutes to activate the yeast. 2. Mix and Knead: - Add the warm water, salt, and yogurt to the mixture. - Knead the dough by hand until it becomes smooth, soft, and stops sticking to your hands. The dough should be pliable but not too sticky. 3. Let the Dough Rise: - Lightly oil a large bowl and place the dough inside, coating the dough's surface with a bit of oil to prevent sticking. - Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and a towel, then set it aside in a warm place to rise until it doubles in size, about 1-2 hours. 4. Shape the Dough: - Once risen, lightly flour your working surface and turn out the dough. Divide it into six even pieces and shape each into a round ball. - Cover with a towel and let the dough balls rest for about 15 minutes. 5. Preheat the Oven: - Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) with a pizza stone or steel inside on the middle rack. Allow it to heat for about 30 minutes. Alternatively, you can use a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. 6. Stretch and Bake: - Dust a pizza peel or a flat surface with a little flour. Take one dough ball and stretch it gently with your hands into a round, about 5-6 inches in diameter and ½ inch thick. - Transfer the shaped dough onto the preheated pizza stone or baking sheet. Repeat with another dough ball if space allows. 7. Bake: - Bake each flatbread for 8-10 minutes, or until lightly golden and puffed up. 8. Cool and Serve: - Once baked, let the flatbreads cool for about 5 minutes. Slice them in half and fill with your favorite toppings or enjoy them as they are. Enjoy your freshly baked flatbread! Use a Stone if you want the best results for crispy, evenly baked pizzas, flatbreads, or artisan bread. Use a Baking Sheet if you prefer convenience, versatility, and easy clean-up, or if you’re baking items where a softer texture is acceptable. For the crispiest flatbreads experience, a pizza stone is your best friend, but for general baking needs, a baking sheet will do just fine! 🤩 Why You’ll Love This Recipe: • Easy to make with basic ingredients • Perfect for sandwiches, dips, or alongside your favorite meals • Soft inside with a crispy exterior • Ideal for breakfast, lunch, or dinner! 🔔 Don’t forget to LIKE, COMMENT, and SUBSCRIBE to my channel for more delicious recipes!
